A growing number of companies have
found the AIDS Walks to be an excellent direct marketing
tool, and at the same time, an opportunity to support us
in our fight against this deadly disease. Heart & Sole
AIDS Walk 2007 is Saturday, October 6, 2007.
Participants start at the Soccer Field at Chase Palm
Park (Cabrillo Blvd. & Garden St.) and walk 6.2
miles along Santa Barbara’s beautiful coastline.
The Heart & Sole AIDS Walk 2007 is the single most
important fundraiser for the Pacific Pride Foundation –
the largest HIV/AIDS service provider between Los
Angeles and San Francisco. Your support will ensure
continued services provided to those in need throughout
Santa Barbara County.
The following are some facts about the services provided
from July 2005 to June 2006:
- Distributed 26,000 bags of free groceries
and personal care items to over 500 men, women and
children affected by or living with HIV/AIDS in Santa
Barbara County.
- Handed out 15,000 free condoms and
safer sex packets.
- Collected 168,000 used syringes through our
Needle Exchange Program in partnership with the Santa
Barbara County Public Health Department. This
one-for-one needle exchange significantly reduces the
possibility of HIV transmission from sharing needles.
- Provided 425 hours of mental health
counseling to people living with or affected by
HIV/AIDS.
- Performed 1,280 free, anonymous HIV antibody
tests in Santa Barbara County with
special outreach to those at greatest risk.
- Reached 600 college students through our HIV/AIDS
Speakers Bureau and through one-on-one
street outreach, bringing the youth of Santa Barbara
County the truth about how AIDS is transmitted.
- Contacted 4,500 people who were at highest risk for
HIV/AIDS (i.e. sex workers, men who have sex with men
and substance users), distributing HIV/AIDS
education materials, safer sex packets and
referral information.
- Answered 1,000 calls on our AIDS Information
Hotline, staffed by volunteers 18 hours a day,
seven days a week.
- Provided case management, routine
physical assessment, health education, risk reduction
assessment and referrals by Social Workers and
Registered Nurses to 250 men, women and children living
with HIV/AIDS in Santa Barbara County.
By sponsoring this event, you achieve high visibility to
over 1,000 walkers and volunteers in the community,
prominent advertising in print materials for several
months prior to the event, as well as direct marketing
at the event. Please review
the sponsorship packages.
Please also consider forming a team
of walkers by your employees, customers, and friends. To
further ensure visibility, certain packages include
t-shirts with your name and logo on it for your team of
walkers to wear.
You play an important role in keeping vital HIV/AIDS
services available for people who are in need and we ask
for your continued support.
