Foster Care Training

Pacific Pride Foundation offers Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Sensitivity Training for the Santa Barbara County Social Services Youth Foster Care System.

A higher percentage of gay youth are in the foster care system than are represented in the general population, and therefore, educational training is offered to ensure their welfare and appropriate treatment as they navigate along an already socially challenging path, regardless of family life or situations.

Our training includes raising awareness of the needs of LGBT youth, the “Coming Out” process, dating and relationships, living in a homo/bi/trans –phobic and heterosexist culture, and addressing bias in the foster care system.

For more information regarding our programming for Foster Care please ontact our Director of Counseling & Recovery Programs, Mariela, Marin, MFT Intern at (805) 963-3636 x130.
