Questioning your sexuality or gender? Wondering if you should "come out" and to whom? Concerned about your family or friends finding out? Getting harassed at school, work, home, etc.? Want to meet other LGBT youth?
Our youth program provides a nurturing environment to
assist LGBT youth and young adults and their families.
Most services are free and include: counseling to
individuals and family members; referrals to social
services (e.g. housing, medical), and weekly support groups. Interventions are also provided to families
struggling to accept or understand a child's emerging
sexual orientation.
Our youth program has provided supportive services for
over 15 years.
Our youth program focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth who do not always experience safety in predominantly heterosexual environments and whose unique needs are sometimes overlooked at other agencies.
The self-empowerment of youth stands as the ultimate goal of the Youth program. We believe that youth are full participants and equal partners in the creation, development, and implementation of services. All youth have the right to a safe, secure, nurturing living environment in which they can develop in a manner that allows them to maximize their full potential physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, educationally, and culturally.
Supportive services offered on-site include individual/family counseling, a weekly support group, HIV/AIDS testing and services. All support services are available and scheduled as needed and as determined by each client’s individualized plan.
PPF coordinates with a range of private and public agencies in the Santa Barbara County area to provide a continuum of care specifically for homeless and runaway youth. Additionally, PPF works with Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Mental Health, Santa Barbara Police Department, Noah’s Anchorage, Youth Shelter, Junior and Senior High Schools.
