Dear Friends and Supporters of Pacific Pride, Pacific Pride Foundation has been leading Santa Barbara County in HIV/AIDS and LGBT programs and services for over 30 years. With offices in Santa Maria and Santa Barbara, we continue to support our community in a variety of ways.
Upcoming Events:
July 5 - The Human Landscape. East/West Gallery hosts an afternoon art show, with tapas and great music. 4-8pm at 714 Bond Ave. Come meet friends and enjoy the art of the human body. $10 donation to benefit the Pacific Pride Festival 2008.
July 9-13th - Pride Festival Week Celebrate Pride as a community
July 9 - Sunset Monthly Mixer.
Kick-off Pride week at the beautiful Canary Hotel rooftop. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Santa Barbara coastline, mix and mingle with your community with cocktails and appetizers. Everyone welcome! Featuring 2007 Queen of Pride Amber Extended hours this month only: 6-10pm at 31 West Carrillo Street.

July 10 - Gay Author Night: Elizabeth Sims. Gather at Borders Bookstore for lesbian author Elizabeth Sims with her new novel The Actress. Sims will discuss hot topics in reading and writing, answer questions, and sign books! 6-8pm at 900 State Street. July 10 - Pride GIRLPARTY.
Girls, Girls and more Girls! Come out and celebrate Pride week with your Santa Barbara GIRLPARTY @ Q's, 409 State Street. Drink specials, shot girls, go-go girls, and lots of fun. All ladies - gay, straight, bi, curious, queer, questioning - 21 and over welcome. VIP tables are going fast, $100 for up to 6 guests includes cover, table, shot girl and much more. July 13 - Best in OUTrageous Shorts. Santa Barbara's LGBT Film Festival hosts a variety of their favorite short films. Come watch the show! Something for everyone! Benefitting Pacific Pride Foundation at UCSB's Student Resource Building from 2-4pm. Reception following the films. July 13 - Sunglasses at Night at Wildcat's Red Room. Santa Barbara's LGBT dance night, starting at 10pm, 15 West Ortega Street.
July 19 - Get Out & Dance Women's Party.

The award-winning play's main character, Darren Lemming, is a popular baseball player at the peak of his career when he decides to come out. Several of his teammates react strongly, and the drama plays out over the course of the baseball season with tragic consequences. The play is set in a baseball locker room, and has an all-male cast with full-frontal male nudity. The play explores themes of homophobia, racism, class and masculinity in sports. Tickets will be available August 1, 2008 at the Santa Barbara Pacific Pride Foundation Office in Santa Barbara. Help at a local level to open the hearts and minds of people about keeping the right and freedom to marry for gays and lesbians. We are looking for volunteers for weekend events, signature gathering at grocery stores, farmers markets, artwalk, and malls throughout Santa Barbara County. Families of Pride: Pacific Pride Foundation's Family Services Program is designed to support the needs of LGBT families coordinating a broad range of recreational activities, public forums, educational venues and events. Families of Pride provides a safe environment for family interaction. OUTrageous Film Festival: Santa Barbara's LGBT Film Festival is seeking new committee members for the November festival. Meetings are held monthly until the summer and then twice monthly. We are actively seeking women, transgendered and people of color. We especially need people interested in fund raising. For more information contact Colette at colette@pacificpridefoundation.org. Pacific Pride Foundation's Individual and Couples Counseling: Pacific Pride Foundation provides affordable psychotherapy for the LGBT and HIV/AIDS communities of Santa Barbara County. We offer counseling in a safe and welcoming environment for people of all cultures, ethnicities and sexual orientations. Thoughts from the Executive Director's Desk Hello Friends and Colleagues, Wow!! Pride is here – Saturday July 12th at Chase Palm Park! Please come, relax, meet new friends, old friends, fall in love, lay down on the grass and listen to the stage performances – umbrella might help. The Pride Committee has done a wonderful job their 2nd year with creating Santa Barbara Counties’ largest LGBT event. Booths, food, beverage, merchandise, music, stage acts, shows, pre-parties, after parties are all in the works. We have an L.A. Pride headliner at our Festival and After-Party– Frenchie Davis performing and singing --HUGE. We have a Pride “Girl Party” on July 10th at Q’s downtown. We have a hot venue for our After-Pride Festival Party at Stateside Restaurant and Lounge. The Outrageous Film Festival is doing an LGBT series at UCSB and a Gay Author Night at Borders will add more fabulous Queer culture to the week. All of these happenings plus parties at the Wildcat and Epiphany will set the tone for Pride Celebration.
