LGBT Spotlight:

Save the Date!

On Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 7:00pm, join Pacific Pride at the Ensemble Theatre Project’s production of Take Me Out.

The award-winning play's main character, Darren Lemming, is a popular baseball player at the peak of his career when he decides to come out. Several of his teammates react strongly, and the drama plays out over the course of the baseball season with tragic consequences.  The play is set in a baseball locker room, and has an all-male cast with full-frontal male nudity.  The play explores themes of homophobia, racism, class and masculinity in sports.

Tickets will be available August 1, 2008 at the Santa Barbara Pacific Pride Foundation Office in Santa Barbara.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the programs and services of Pacific Pride Foundation.

Thoughts from the Executive Director's Desk

Hello Friends and Colleagues,

Wow!! Pride is here – Saturday July 12th at Chase Palm Park!  Please come, relax, meet new friends, old friends, fall in love, lay down on the grass and listen to the stage performances – umbrella might help.

The Pride Committee has done a wonderful job their 2nd year with creating Santa Barbara Counties’ largest LGBT event. Booths, food, beverage, merchandise, music, stage acts, shows, pre-parties, after parties are all in the works.  We have an L.A. Pride headliner at our Festival and After-Party– Frenchie Davis performing and singing --HUGE.  We have a Pride “Girl Party” on July 10th at Q’s downtown.  We have a hot venue for our After-Pride Festival Party at Stateside Restaurant and Lounge.   The Outrageous Film Festival is doing an LGBT series at UCSB and a Gay Author Night at Borders will add more fabulous Queer culture to the week.  All of these happenings plus parties at the Wildcat and Epiphany will set the tone for Pride Celebration.  Go to our event website location for complete listings:  www.pacificpridefestival.org

With our legalization and inclusion in marriage we all have so much to feel happy and proud about.  Enjoy and we look forward to seeing you at all these events and remember the Canary Hotel Rooftop kicking it all off on Wednesday July 9th.

See you ‘Out’,

David Selberg
