We need continued funding from SB County to support HIV/AIDS services! You may personalize this message or send it as is: To Whom It May Concern: I am reaching out to you as a Santa Barbara County resident with deep concern about cuts to HIV/AIDS services as a result of our State budget crisis. As you are aware, Governor Schwarzenegger exercised his line-item veto power along with State Legislature cuts and eliminated a total of $82 million dollars from core HIV/AIDS programs throughout California days ago. What this means to Santa Barbara County is a loss of over 65% of funding to core HIV/AIDS programs, serving thousands of men, women and children in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Goleta, Lompoc, Guadalupe, and Santa Maria. Services correspondingly will be reduced or eliminated and most at risk include case management—nurses and social workers, food, housing services, transportation and HIV testing. These services are critical for the well being of HIV Positive clients to keep them from becoming sick with only the already overburden hospital emergency rooms their only option for treatment. I urge you to continue the use of Santa Barbara County General funds in support of HIV/AIDS services.
